Introductie
BuyBay has offices in Amsterdam and Cologne and a warehouse in Wijchen. BuyBay employes more than 180 people and has a revenue of around € 40 million.
In 2017 BuyBay acquires investment from Fortino Capital for international business growth. BuyBay uses its proprietary software to optimise value recovery and cost management, as well as provide resales reporting and analytics. Since its founding in 2014, BuyBay has scaled strongly and grown an impressive list of customers, to include Bol.com, Coolblue and AC Elektro.
We process and sell returned products and overstock for retailers, e-tailers, brands, distributors, and manufacturers. With our advanced grading and pricing software for marketplaces, we can sell every product to a matching buyer for a good price.
Not only do we completely unburden our partners, we also reduce an insane amount of waste and generate profit for all parties involved.
Functie
The CFO is end-responsible for the Finance, Operations and HR function of BuyBay and is the business and sparring partner of the CEO. In this role you will be responsible for financial, revenue and cost control, process and reporting, HR, operations, legal and compliance, ESG strategy and reporting, risk management and funding process and structure. The CFO is a key member of the management team and has 4 direct reports; Manager Finance (4 FTE Amsterdam), Manager Operations (5 FTE in Wijchen), Manager Services (7 FTE in Wijchen) and Manager HR (3 FTE in Amsterdam). More in detail:
• Sparring partner to the CEO on a financial (and strategic) level;
• Set-up and optimise finance/operations structure and plan for continued BuyBay (Finance) growth;
• Align and translate business requirements into initiatives and translate into actionable plans;
• Ultimately responsible for the financial administration and accuracy of figures. Taking care of a frictionless financial administration so that finance can deliver more added value on the business side;
• Together with the CEO balancing culture (informal, policy averse, individual) with growing size;
• Drive and improve the performance of operations, this in close cooperation with the Manager Operations and Manager Services in Wijchen;
• Manage and coach the Finance, Operations and HR teams including development, performance evaluation, work allocation, conflict resolution and termination;
• Lead the development and execution of short-, mid- and long-term Business Control plans and goals, ensure execution and implementation;
• Deliver added value by providing useful business insights and driving performance and cost improvements, as well as decision-making;
• Understand the business model for generating value and translate the operational metrics into key performance indicators;
• Challenge the business and ongoing financial and operational performance, spotting trends early and interpreting information quickly to ensure that action is carried out effectively;
• Play an active role setting-up and executing pricing strategies;
• Create a data-driven approach to institutionalise Business Intelligence to support the sales and daily (project) operations;
• Developing strategic financial plan (around topics as scalability, automation, unit economics reporting etc);
• Drafting management reports. Constantly improving (financial) reports and analyses (including quality, correctness and uniformity);
• Drafting, coordinating and monitoring the realisation of the budget and longer term (rolling) forecasts. Identifying budget deviations and addressing them;
• Preparation of periodic financial reports, annual accounts, investment analyses, profit and loss accounts;
• Active driving role in the field of funding and building relationships with investors and banks;
• Cash flow management, managing cash flows and ensuring optimal working capital management and reporting which also includes the interaction with debtors;
• Optimal structuring of processes with regard to international regulation i.e. ESG, GDPR;
• Identifying, mapping and reducing risks, optimising the legal, compliance and fiscal structure (if beneficial);
• Taking care of the overall design of accounting, AO/IC and financial systems with the growth ambitions of the company;
• Instil strong customer-service, ‘can do’ attitude across all functions.

Professional profile
• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics and/or Accounting. Post master degree in controlling is an advantage (RC/CMA);
• 8-10 years of working experience of which 3-5 years in an end-responsible role in finance, accounting and operations and/or financial due diligence advisor (transaction services);
• Finance and operations professional that wants to bring an organisation to the next level with her/his theoretical and business experience and is able to develop and present strategic direction and translate this into actions within the organisation and with external partners;
• Strong affinity and experience in managing operations;
• Experienced in setting out financial strategy and initiatives, preferably in a tech driven scale-up setting;
• You have a strong understanding of financial strategies, budgeting, and resource allocation;
• Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence and process improvements;
• You are naturally curious, process orientated and work with accuracy;
• You have an excellent command of the Dutch and English language;
• Experience with (financial) reporting systems (implementing & managing);
• Experience in M&A, private equity and/or venture capital is a plus.
